Tennis: US Open 2014 Update

Posted By sports gal

After an exciting day 9 in NYC, the U.S. Open is just a few days away from awarding its new champions. As the fourth and final tennis major of the Grand Slam (the others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon), the two-week hardcourt tennis tournament has already weeded out some of the favourite seeds; Maria Sharapova, and Canadians Milos Raonic and Eugenie Bouchard have all been eliminated.

Aside from the heartbreaks, the usual tennis celebrities are breezing through the rounds.

Impressing the crowd with his straight-set victory (when someone wins without losing a set),17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is dominating the tournament as he advances to his 10th U.S. Open quarterfinal against Gael Monfils.

In a not-so-easy victory, Croat Marin Clic claimed his win over Gilles Simon after a well-fought four-hour and thirteen minute match.

Stay tuned to see how Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray battle it out (for the 21st time) in the men’s quarterfinals!
