NFL enacts New Measures to Deal with Domestic Violence

The biggest news of the day yesterday came with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s commitment to new rules surrounding domestic violence. Players will now be suspended for six games (one third of the season) for their first offense and a lifetime ban for their 2nd offence. There is a lot of controversy surrounding football culture and the connection between football and violence. It’s a good step and the fact that it has been extended to staff as well as players provides a stronger statement. If the next big thing in professional sports broadcasting is to bring in the female fan, then extreme measures need to be put in place at work, in order to teach some men what they never learned growing up at home.
