Unless you own a horse, thoroughbred racing is probably a sport that you don’t pay much attention to except during the Triple Crown. The Triple Crown consists of three races, the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. Every year the world watches in anticipation of a horse winning all three races and thus winning the Triple Crown. There has not been a Triple Crown winner in 34 years when Affirmed did it in 1978.
http://dreamingoutloud.nl/category/beauty/page/2/ This year there has been great anticipation as the Belmont Stakes approach on June 9 as we may finally see another Triple Crown winner; a horse named I’llHave Another is just one win away. If the horse wins at Belmont in two weeks he will become the 12th horse in history to win the Triple Crown.
Many horses have won the first two races only to lose at Belmont as it is considered the hardest of the three to win, being nicknamed “The Test of the Champion.” The third leg of the crown is also the longest race at one and a half miles. The Belmont Stakes run June 9. Tune in to see if history is made or if 2012 is yet another thoroughbred disappointment.
