The Gary Weber Open held in Halle, Germany is one of five ATP grass court tournaments held in the lead-up to Wimbledon.
It was a Cinderella story on the grass-courts for 85th ranked, German wild card, Dustin Brown who knocked out the first ranked Rafael Nadal in the second round on Thursday. Coming off of a massive French Open win, this round at Halle did not go according to plan for the King of Clay.
Roger Federer is still a tournament favourite, considering his complete domination in recent years with 6 Gary Weber Open titles. He beat Portugal’s Joao Sousa 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday and will next face Taiwan’s Yen-Hsun for a spot in the semi-finals. Keep an eye out to see if this powerhouse can take the tournament again!
