With less than two weeks remaining in regular season play, teams around the National League is giving they’re all to become one of the few teams eligible to move on to the post season. The Washington Nationals have officially clinched their division title, while the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers are still looking to possibly do the same. Currently, the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates have a pretty good lead over their rivals for the Wild Card, with only the Milwaukee Brewers close behind.
What to watch out for:
*The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a very embarrassing 16-2 (!) loss to the Colorado Rockies, the WORST team in the National League on Wednesday. The saying ‘the worst team can beat the best team’ definitely came true that night. The Dodgers are now facing the Chicago Cubs, another team going through struggles. They’ll want to avoid letting another Rockies situation happen again, as they need to hold off the Giants to win the NL West
*The Pirates will face off against the Brewers, their division rival and also the team looking to take their Wild Card position away. The Pirates are currently 8-2 in their last 10 and hope to continue this success or will the dark horse Brewers ruin their playoff hopes?
*While the Rockies will definitely not make the playoffs, first baseman Justin Morneau has a chance of winning the National League batting title after having a home run and six RBI’s in one game! This season, Morneau has 16 homers and 79 RBI’s.
