We’re in the last week of the regular season, and only the Central Division is yet to be decided. Both the Baltimore Orioles (East) and Los Angeles Angels (West) clinched their Division titles last week. The Detroit Tigers are leading the Kansas City Royals by a slim margin in the Central, but it’s very possible this division will be a competition right to the end. The Oakland Athletics and Royals are both Wild Card teams right now, but the Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Indians are within sight of the final playoff spots. Both the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays aren’t mathematically eliminated yet, but they’re definite long shots for making the post-season.
Things to watch:
-The Mariners play the Jays for four games in Toronto.
-James Shields (pictured left) and the Royals are playing the Indians, which could have consequences in the Wild Card and Central Division races. Cleveland has the home-field advantage in this three game series.
-The Tigers will have to try hard to beat the Chicago White Sox to help increase their lead in the Division. Detroit is playing at home, which could give them the edge they need to increase their lead.
